Program For first-year students

This fall of 2023, the College of Chemistry is offering a course specifically designed to help first-year students succeed in Chem 4A. This course, Chem 49, will be offered concurrently with Chem 4A, and will focus on supporting students to develop study habits, test-taking strategies, chemical vocabulary, and knowledge of essential chemistry concepts. Students will also be introduced to the community of chemistry through interactions with members of the CoC community including professors, graduate students, peers, and advisors. This course is designed for students who did not have the opportunity to take a strong AP Chemistry or IB Chemistry course or similar in high school.
