This fall the College of Chemistry welcomes 306 new undergrads—145 seeking degrees in chemical engineering, 86 in chemical biology and 75 in chemistry (for a chemistry department total of 161).
In addition, 71 new Ph.D. students will make the Department of Chemistry their new home, while 21 new Ph.D. students will join the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. CBE's Product Development Program will add another 38 one-year master's degree students.
The 436 new students will join 1,100 continuing students and 128 postdocs, bringing the total number of students to 1,536 (1,664 including postdocs.)
About 37 percent of CoC students self-report as female. Almost half, or 47 percent, of undergrad chemistry and chemical biology students are female. In CBE, 25 percent of undergrads and 43 percent of graduate students are female.
