The College of Chemistry community gathered recently to celebrate a significant construction milestone: the "topping off" of its newest landmark. The ceremony, marking the placement of the final structural beam, served as both a celebration of physical progress and a testament to the institution's future. Staff, faculty and student signatures appeared on the beam.
During the event, Interim Dean Anne Baranger shared an inside look at what the public can expect once the doors officially open. Highlights included insights into how the facility's state-of-the-art labs and collaborative spaces will empower faculty research and enhance the student learning experience and a look into how this building fits into the broader long-term growth of the College and the campus at large.
The ceremony also provided a moment of reflection. Dean Emeritus Doug Clark took the stage to provide vital historical context, explaining why the creation of this building has been a top priority for years. He underscored the specific gaps in infrastructure the new facility will bridge, framing it as a long-awaited solution to the College's evolving needs.
