| Samples requiring high resolution (HR) analysis MUST
be accompanied by a low resolution (LR) spectrum for that compound.
Attach the LR spectrum to the submission form when requesting HR mass
measurements. Students are encouraged to look at their LR spectrum
before proceeding with a request for HR. If a LR spectrum indicates
the presence of another compound whose molecular ion is greater than
or equal to 15% (relative abundance) of the molecular ion of the compound
of interest, the student will be required to obtain his/her research
advisor's signature on the LR spectrum before the staff will proceed
with HR mass measurements.
High resolution measurements are only possible with electron impact and fast atom bombardment. The facility currently has no instrument capable of acquiring high resolution data for electrospray ionization. |
