Chemistry
graduate students Amish Patel and Jacob Hooker gave
a presentation, "Chirality Recognition in Nature," (mirror
image symmetry) in a fifth-grade class in May to rave reviews
from kids and teacher alike, as part of the new Chemistry in the
Classroom outreach program. This program is designed to improve
chemistry education in local public elementary schools through
an innovative classroom outreach strategy involving UC Chemistry
students as volunteer role models for elementary teachers and
