MDL CrossFre Reinstallation
***You MUST Re-Install MDL CrossFire Beilstein and Gmelin ***
Everyone who is currently using MDL CrossFire must re-install the client software program that is on his or her personal computer by the end of February in order to maintain uninterrupted access. Instructions are at:

http://software.chem.ucla.edu/crossfire/Xfire4ucb.html

You have to reinstall the program because we have a new license for MDL CrossFire that includes all the UC Campuses (prior to this license, only some campuses had access). In order to be part of this all-UC consortium, everyone must reinstall the MDL client with software that is being distributed out of UCLA.

The good news is that faculty and students with UCB appointments, but who are physically located at other UC campuses like UCSF will now have access to the MDL CrossFire databases. Instructions for first time installations are also at http://software.chem.ucla.edu/crossfire/Xfire4ucb.html. If your computer is physically at another UC campus other than UCB, use this page: http://software.chem.ucla.edu/crossfire/xfiredownload.html

Remember that you must reinstall by the end of February in order to maintain uninterrupted access.

Next Round of Journal Cancellations
The Chemistry Library is once again planning for journal cancellations. High on the list for consideration this year are duplicate print subscriptions (where another library subscribes in print to the same journal) and duplicate formats (where the library pays for both the print and electronic version of the same journal). More information will be forthcoming in March and April about this project.

New Import Filter for PubMed/EndNote
If you import PubMed search results into EndNote be sure you are using the newest import filter. It can be downloaded from http://endnote.com/support/enfilters.asp; look for the filter called "NLM PubMed" dated 10/17/03. If you do not use this new filter, all the references will merge into a single reference in the EndNote library.
