Farewell to Current Contents
Current Contents will be cancelled at the end of 2004 due to budgetary restraints. The information in Current Contents is duplicated in Web of Science so there will be no loss of access to any information. An easy and
direct link to Web of Science is http://isiknowledge.com/wos. If you have
current awareness alerts running in Current Contents, you should set them up to run in Web of Science before the end of December.

Web of Knowledge Alerts
Current awareness searches or "alerts", are run weekly in the Web of Science database, with the results emailed to you. There is a guide at
http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/BIOS/wok_alerts.pdf and a tutorial movie at http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/BIOS/media/index.html

A quick outline of the steps:

1. Go to the Web of Science (http://isiknowledge.com/wos)
2. Enter and run the search you want to be your alert. You can be fairly general since your alert will only be run against a week's worth of articles. You can always modify it at a later date.
3. Go to Combine Searches page or the Advanced Search page
4. Click the Save History button button is on the page, not at the top
5. Log on to the ISI server when you are prompted to do so. Make up your own password.
6. Enter a History Name and Description (optional),
7. Click the "Send Me E-mail Alerts" check button and enter your email address
8. For alert types, most people use Biblio or Biblio+abstract. Full records can be long and cumbersome.
9. Choose your email format.
10. Click Save
