Young alumni (2000-2004)
Christina Smolke (Ph.D., ChE), an
assistant professor at Caltech, has been named as one of the world’s 100
Top Young Innovators by Technology Review. According to the editors, Smolke
“fine-tunes the activity of individual genes via an adaptable technology
that is potentially useful in biosensors, gene therapies targeted to specific
types of cells, and the development of new antibacterial, antifungal,
and anticancer treatments.” 2002 2003 Patricia A. Linden (Ph.D., Chem) is
a chemist with the USDA, as well as a proud new homeowner in Novato, CA. Christian Hess (Postdoc , Chem) is
a research scientist in the department of inorganic chemistry at the Fritz
Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society in Berlin. 2004 Gavin M. Hoch (M.S., ChE) is an associate
engineer at Environ International Corp. in Emeryville, CA. Erik M. Freer (Ph.D., ChE) is a postdoctoral
researcher and nano-biotechnologist at IBM in San Jose, CA. Di Gao (Ph.D., ChE) started as an assistant professor of chemical and petroleum engineering at the University of Pittsburgh this fall. David T. Kim (Ph.D., ChE) will begin work as a
senior associate in environmental consulting for Environ Corporation in
Emeryville, CA. Gary K.L. Lee (Ph.D., ChE) is a research
scientist at Cell Genesys in South San Francisco, CA. |
