How Things Work

Stage.cchem.berkeley.edu is a staging server only. It will be synchronized to the Colleges’ production web server, www.cchem.berkeley.edu , on the hour, 8 AM - 6:00PM and at 1AM , daily. You may immediately review your staged material from here: http://stage.cchem.Berkeley.edu/~<ACCOUNT>/ , the material in your public_html directory. After synchronization your material will be seen from here as well: http://www.cchem.berkeley.edu/<ACCOUNT>/ , without the tilde.

Your account is only accessible with SSH. You can use this software in ‘drag and drop’ or command line mode.

FAQ

If you cannot see your material please check to be sure that your permissions are set correctly, 755 or rwx-w_x-r_x is appropriate for your public_html directory. To change all permissions in the public_html directory execute this command in your account root directory, chmod -R 755 public_html .
