On the cover:Alexander Katz, assistant professor of chemical engineering, and his students are creating materials with three-dimensional organization on the nanoscale. The cover shows an SEM scan of a material that consists of a silica framework pocketed by isolated primary amines that are each enclosed, with each pocket containing one primary amine. These and other novel materials created in the Katz group will impact separations and catalysis.
